The St. Angelo Lake

The St. Angelo Lake is also Known as Casoli Lake.

It is a reservoir formed in 1958 by the damming of the Aventino river to feed the power plant of Acea Selva d’Altino.

It is located in the Casoli town ( province of Chieti), near the border of Gassopalena and Civitella Messer Raimondo places.

Today it is an interesting habitat for the Flora ( cattail minor) and Fauna (great crested grebe, kingfisher, mallard, coot, moorhen, dipper, wagtail, heron, storks and cormorants), although it has artificial origin.

The position of the lake is very attractive because it is surrounded by the “ Leccetta di Casoli and the Colle Foreste Forest ”site of Community importance.

It is dominated by the tower of Prata and the majestic scenery of the eastern side of Majella.

 


The Mountain Community of Majella

The extension is 240 sq.Km  of entire territory of the Mountain Community of Majella.

In the green and fertile Valleys and in the old Forests of beech, you seem to lose your  way …the sense of space is coming back you , looking the undulating hills of gorse and the river landscapes.

Then, in short  time ,you will focus the seven countries that surrounding the landscape: “ Fara San Martino, Guardiagrele, Palombaro, Pennapiedimonte, Pretoro, Rapino, Roccamontepiano.

Furthermore, you will see the blue line of Adriatic Sea in the horizon.
